Yesterday, I discovered that my gggrandfather Michael Ready came from Borrisoleigh. Parents James Ready and Mary Tracy. In 1848, at 19, he joined the British army and spent the following 20 years all around the world before joining his wife Mary McCann in Manchester, England. From my ggrandparents back, all my ancestors were Irish but this is the first time I have been able to physically place anyone in a village. I am very proud to be descended from Irish people.
