Borrisoleigh Heritage & Culture
Thanks to all who came out on Thursday last to the two community consultation sessions at Glenkeen. Liam Mannix, conservation consultant was on hand to hear and take on board some valuable suggestions that the attendees had to offer. As Glenkeen is in the guardianship of our generation, it is good that the local community have their input into the project. The compilation of this conservation management plan is being funded by the Heritage Council of Ireland in conjunction with Tipperary CoCo.
On Saturday last, our group paid a visit to the farming & folk vintage museum – and to the adjoining Gairdín an Ghorta at Newmarket in Co. Kilkenny. After having breakfast at Windgap Community Centre we proceeded to the museum where we were met with our host, Willie Barron. Willie has personally put together a vast collection of vintage machinery which is constantly being expanded by way of private donations.
National Heritage Week – Open House at Killoskehane Castle
Killoskehane Castle, just on the outskirts of Borrisoleigh, will host an open day on the 16th of August as part of National Heritage Week.

Cashel & Emly Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock
The Annual Diocesan Pilgrimage to Irelands National Eucharistic & Marian Shrine Knock, will take place on Sunday 2nd August led by Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly. The Pilgrimage programme commences at 2pm with Rosary, 2.30pm Anointing of the sick, 3.00pm Concelebrated Mass followed by Eucharistic Blessing, Rosary Procession to the Shrine (weather permitting) and Blessing of Religious Objects. Sacred Music on the day will be led by Cashel & Emly Diocesan Choir. We look forward to welcoming Pobal Ailbhe to Knock Shrine on our Diocesan Day.

40-HOUR VIGIL FOR WORLD PEACE AND VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD AND RELIGIOUS LIFE
JULY 24th-26th in Bóthar Na Naomh Church, commencing Friday, July 24th at 7.00 p.m. with Mass and Benediction. Adoration continues until before Mass Sunday morning. Youth 2000 Summer Festival
13th –16th August. Calling all young people aged 16–35! Join us at the Youth 2000 Summer Festival in Newbridge College, Co. Kildare. This is a donation-only event, with free buses available across the country and all meals included. For more info visit youth2000.ie.
One-Day NON-PENITENTIAL Pilgrimage to Loughderg
Will take place on Tues 18th Aug 2026. A bus will leave from the diocese starting in Tipperary Town on Mon 17th Aug going via Knock for attendance at the Novena, overnight stay Bundoran with evening meal and B&B, travelling to Loughderg on Tuesday morning, leaving Loughderg around 4pm for our journey home with an evening meal in Roscommon. Niamh Keane & Whistle Live at Finn’s Folk Club | Sunday 26th July

A gifted singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, her music beautifully blends contemporary folk with Irish traditional and classical influences, creating an intimate and captivating live performance.
Joining Niamh on the night are Whistle, a much-loved traditional Irish folk band renowned for their rich harmonies, lively musicianship and engaging stage presence. Together, they promise an evening of outstanding music that celebrates both traditional and contemporary Irish folk.

Overview:
We are currently seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our Community Employment (CE) Scheme. This is a part-time opportunity designed to support participants in gaining valuable work experience while contributing positively to the local community.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be aged 21 years or over
- Must meet Community Employment Scheme eligibility requirements (as per Department of Social Protection guidelines)
Key Responsibilities:
- General gardening and grounds maintenance
- Grass cutting and lawn care
- Painting and basic maintenance of community facilities
- Upkeep of outdoor spaces including litter control and tidying
- Assisting with minor repairs and improvement projects
- Supporting community events and activities when required
Skills & Qualities:
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Good timekeeping and reliability
- Interest in outdoor work and community involvement
- Previous experience is an advantage but not essential

Eucharistic Adoration
Adoration in the Church of the Sacred Heart Borrisoleigh will take place after 10:00am Mass until 11:30 am on Wednesdays and Fridays
Adult Set Dancing Classes
Adult Set Dancing classes are taking place every Monday night in Finns Pub @ 8pm. Michael Cooney is running them. All are welcome

Mat Pilates started in June and runs until the end of August. All are welcome.
