Borrisoleigh Town Park Notes
The Final Stretch – Pave the Park

Trevor Groome (owner of Muddy Puddles Childcare and The Final Stretch main sponsor) with Bobby Ryan (Chairman of Borrisoleigh Town Park) at the launch of The Final Stretch – Pave the Park fundraising project
A huge fundraising project has kickstarted in Borrisoleigh entitled The Final Stretch – Pave the Park. The project is been sponsored by Trevor Groome of Muddy Puddles Childcare whose business in now situated in the Borrisoleigh Town Park and also in Fantane.
Over a number of years, the sports facilities in the Borrisoleigh Town Park and GAA grounds have been brought into a state of the art facility. The premises now play host to two full size GAA pitches, a full size juvenile pitch and a soccer field.
A hurling wall is accompanied by a railed astro-turf pitch that can host mini hurling and 5 aside soccer games. The newest development is the installation of two padel courts, a playground is on site for the youth of the community to avail of while the fabulously spacious Sports Complex sits pride of place adjacent to the pitches.
Within the Complex, there is a main hall that includes four badminton courts while it is also equipped to host indoor soccer, basketball and indoor hurling training. A 60×30 alley is ideal for playing hurl-ball, handball and racquetball. The facility also includes a fully equipped gymnasium, a fitness studio, kitchen facility and five dressing rooms.
Surrounding the entire facility is a 1.3km fully lit up track that is home to the Track-Attack Club and it offers people from the local and surrounding areas to avail of walking and running track that is free from the perils of traffic.
The final piece of the jigsaw has now been launched. The Final Stretch – Pave the Park initiative was launched by Chairman of the Town Park, Bobby Ryan and our main sponsor Trevor Groome.
The aim of the fundraiser is to raise the funds to surface the car parks with tarmacadam, install lighting also in the carpark and develop a public toilet facility that will be situated adjacent to the playground and padel courts.
As part of the launch, two fun days of sports and activites were held that showcased the brilliance of the facilities that are now available. As well as having mini leagues in camogie and hurling and an indoor soccer blitz, a host of novelty and fun games proved to be enormously successful and enjoyable. The McIllroy Golf Challenge saw adults and kids alike chip golf balls into a washing machine. A basketball shootout, camogie and hurling sharpshooter, soccer slalom, Gaelic football shootout, water relays, Stall the Ball challenge and many more brought the competitive streak out in everyone who participated.
The fundraising project is the combined efforts of all the local clubs including the GAA, Juvenile GAA, camogie and Track-Attack. Tickets for the fundraiser are currently been sold by all club members while a major sponsorship iniative has also been launched and details of this can be obtained on the Borrisoleigh Town Park social media pages.
