SAFEGUARDING MONTH OF OCTOBER – SAFEGUARDING IN OUR PARISH
Creating a Safe and Welcoming Parish for Everyone. Safeguarding is an essential part of parish life. As a parish community within the Archdiocese of Cashel & Emly, we are committed to creating an environment where everyone, especially children and young people, feel welcomed, respected, valued and safe.
Our Shared Responsibility
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Each of us has a part to play in ensuring that our parish is a safe and welcoming place for all. We encourage everyone involved in parish life to
be familiar with our safeguarding procedures and to speak up if they have a concern.
A Safe and Welcoming Church
Safeguarding is more than policies and procedures — it is about respecting the dignity, wellbeing and rights of every person. As a parish community, let us continue to be vigilant, caring and supportive of one another. By working together, we can help ensure that everyone who comes through our doors feels safe, valued, and welcome.
Please save the date for a MyFaith.ie Information Evening on Tuesday 10th November at 7pm in Holycross. A representative from the Diocese of Ossory will introduce the MyFaith programme and explain how it can support parishes in accompanying families as their children prepare for the Sacraments. MyFaith.ie website: https://myfaith.ie/. MyFaith is a parish-based programme that combines online and in-person preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. It supports children and their parents or guardians as they journey together towards celebrating the Sacraments, within their families and with the support of their parish community. While MyFaith is a parish-based programme, awareness and collaboration among parishes, families and schools would provide the strongest support for the children preparing for the Sacraments.
