Borrisoleigh Active Social Club went off to Dublin last week and visited Leinster House. Their host for the day was Tipperarys Jackie Cahill Fianna Fáil.  After having dinner there Jackie arranged for them to be given a guided tour of The Dáil and The Séanad . It was a great day and the group are so thankful to Jackie for his hospitality.

Everyone had a great time and there was even the opportunity to do a bit of shopping.

We are now planning our next day trip so more details next week.

Borris-Ileigh GAA – Club Notes

“Tipperary Water” County Senior Hurling League:
Well done to our Senior Hurlers who earned a point in extremely hard fought draw against Upperchurch Drombane in atrocious conditions in The Park last Sunday afternoon.
The relentless rainfall coupled with the hard ground made for very greasy conditions from start to finish but both teams still managed to produce an entertaining encounter. We settled into the game well, three Conor Kenny points inside the opening ten minutes including one from play gave us a deserved two point lead. Another Kenny point a long with a fine Jerry Kelly score maintained our advantage. Three excellent points from play from Ryan Murphy, Matthew Stapleton and Tommy Ryan at midfield sent us in a point up at the break with the scoreboard reading 0-08 to 0-07.

Two more Conor Kenny frees extended our lead to three but once again Upperchurch managed to peg us back thanks to the direct runs of Jack Butler and the free taking of centre back Gavin Ryan. We missed a couple of crucial scores in the third quarter of the game which allowed the Church men to take the lead with seven minutes to go. They extended their lead out to three points heading into injury time before an excellent piece of team play from defence resulted in the ball being worked into Jack Hogan who buried the ball to the back of the net to salvage a 1-12 to 0-15 draw.

We now await the result of the Drom Inch and Burgess game which takes place on Tuesday the 25th of June to see if we have progress to the semi final stage.
