Appeal for News

This is an appeal to those of you who are involved in various activities (limited as they might be in the current circumstances), not to forget to send us an email with a few lines and maybe a photo or two publicising what you are doing. The regular users of this site (particularly those not on social media) would like to see them and it will help paint a fuller picture of what is taking place in and around Borrisoleigh. We rely on you, the local community, to send us your news.

Thanks,

Borrisoleigh Website Committee

Borris-Ileigh Camogie Club Notes

Under 10 Blitz:

Well done to all our Under 10 players who travelled to the Ragg on Saturday morning and participated in the second of the county blitzes. It was a fantastic morning of entertainment and play with plenty of very impressive and skilful players from all three clubs participating.

Thanks to the Drom-Inch team for hosting the event.

Under 12s on the Double:

Both our Under 12 maroon and white teams had to dig deep to etch out victories in last week’s round of games.  Both games were played in a furnace of heat but that didn’t deter any of the teams involved from serving up two fantastic encounters.

Our maroon team were away to Templemore and following an absolute cracker, we came away with a narrow 3-03 to 3-01 victory. Our white team made the journey to Ballinderry to play Shannon Rovers. After finding themselves 1-01 to no score down and looking in trouble in terms of getting back into the game, our girls displayed some of the never say die attitude that we’ve become accustomed to seeing and they rallied brilliantly and hit the net three times without reply to record a hard earned victory.

Under 14’s win in Clonoulty:

Our Under 14’s continued their winning streak when they recorded an away victory against Clonoulty/Rossmore. It was a game complete with excellent scores including an absolute gem by Ciara Maher and entertaining passages of play.

In the end, our girls ran out 5-02 to 2-02 victors and now look forward to their last match of the round robin series which is against Drom-Inch in Borrisoleigh on Thursday night with a 7:30pm start.

Under 16’s overcome Templemore:

Our Under 16’s travelled to Killea in search of a first win of the championship where they faced Templemore. In a game that rained goals, our girls produced a fantastic display to outscore our opponents 6-08 to 3-01.

Intermediate League:

It was a mixed week for our Intermediate team in the county league. After recording an excellent win over Knockavilla at home, we had to travel to play Shannon Rovers away without the services of many regulars and defeat was our lot on the night.

Victory for Tipp:

Congratulations to Julieanne Bourke, Nicole Walsh and all the Tipperary team on their opening round victory over Offaly in the All-Ireland Championship. Congrats also to Denis Kelly and Angelo Walsh who are part of the coaching team.
