Cashel and Emly celebrates 40 years of pilgrimages to Lourdes

The 40 year celebration cake and local nursing duo Catherine Ryan (Matron of the Pilgrimage) with her daughter Maria who is a student nurse

This year was the 40th anniversary of the Cashel & Emly Pilgrimage to Lourdes. Nearly 700 hundred pilgrims travelled including a small group from our parish. This year turned out to be a wet one in Lourdes despite the scorching sunshine at home. The south of France is not all it’s cracked up to be! But despite the bad weather spirits were high and all who travelled found it to be an uplifting experience.

The local Lourdes committee wish to sincerely thank all who supported their recent fundraising collection. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.

  Cousins meet!!

Pictured at the Feile na nGael in Cusack Park, Ennis at the weekend are Laura Kenny representing Longford Slashers camogie club and Patrick Kenny who was involved in the management of Durlas Og hurlers. Laura and Patrick are both grand children of Borrisoleigh men… Laura’s grandfather is Eddie Kenny of Greenlawn and Patrick’s grandfather was the late Paddy Kenny formerly of Main Street and Thurles. Never having met before, the two groups were parading next to each other when the family connection was made!
