As the organisation responsible for implementing this scheme in this area, North Tipperary LEADER Partnership, is holding 3 information evenings to explain to community and voluntary groups what the scheme can offer and what are its requirements.

These information evenings will take place next week as follows:

  • Tuesday, July 19th, Old Church, Borrisokane
  • Wednesday July 20th, Templederry GAA Hall
  • Thursday July 21st, Moyne Community Hall, all at 8pm.

For more information contact 067 56676

According to Michael Murray, CEO of North Tipperary LEADER Partnership: “We’re asking representatives to come along. The TUS programme can offer huge support to the work of community and voluntary groups across North Tipperary.”

A broad range of community based work can be supported under TÚS: for example energy conservation, social care, caretaking, renovation work, Irish language, cultural and heritage promotion, community administration, research and community event management.

So far, North Tipperary has 60 places to allocate under the scheme. These 12 month places will be divided between community groups and social care work to initiated by NTLP. Groups will be selected through a fair and open evaluation. Staff will score each application under specific criteria, and make recommendations to the Employment Services subcommittee of NTLP, chaired by Councillor Jonathon Meaney.
According to Councillor Meaney, “We’re looking for quality placements, that are beneficial for both the group and the individual. We are also welcoming joint applications from community groups in the same geographical area.”
