Seisiún Ceoil for Children

Leisure Group UDCC

UDCC Leisure cycling group enjoyed a lovely fresh morning cycle from Borrisoleigh to Templemore via The Ragg. Weather was in our favour as the sun shone brightly on us. On returning to Borrisoleigh we enjoyed coffee and treats at the Bush & Briar. Why not get in touch with us and give cycling a go as part of a friendly and safe group. All our cycles are lead out with experienced trained community bike ride leaders. Contact Ella Coman on 0876757295 or ellacoman@hotmail.com

OCTOBER – SAFEGUARDING MONTH IN THE ARCHDIOCESE

Safeguarding month of October – The Safeguarding Committee felt that our Safeguarding Month should reflect and remind ourselves of Pope Francis vision, teaching and commitment to ensuring our Churches are a safe place for both children and vulnerable adults.

Sunday 12th October – Pope Francis reminded that, ‘in the Confiteor, we ask forgiveness not only for the wrong we have done, but also for the good we have failed to do’.

In the past, the Catholic Church in Ireland failed in its duty to protect children and young people. Church policies have focused on establishing consistent standards to prevent abuse and assist the Church on its journey to learn from the mistakes of the past and ensure that children’s safety is a core part of its mission.

Borrisoleigh Active Social Club

The next meeting of Borrisoleigh Active Social Club takes place tonight Wed Oct 8th at 7pm in the Community Centre Borrisoleigh.

Our annual Autumn trip took place last week. We departed Borrisoleigh and headed off to The Knightsbrook Hotel Trim.  We took in visits to Johnstown Garden Centre,  Newgrange, Battle of the Boyne visitors centre,  Hill of Tara,  Joe Dolans statue and a tour of The Guinness Storehouse.  As always there was time for a bit of retail therapy in Trim, Mullingar and Newbridge.  There was great entertainment each evening in the hotel. We held a talent competition and the standard was very high with Margaret Carr winning . Thanks to everybody that travelled and made the trip so enjoyable. Thinking caps are on already to know where we’ll go next year.

A number of our members went to Drom on Saturday night last to see the Celtic Brothers in concert.  It was a great night’s entertainment.
