Community Bike Ride

Last Sunday we cycled to The Ragg and into Templemore and returned to the Bush and Briar coffee shop for refreshments in beautiful sunshine and great company. Thanks to all cyclists and to the Bush and Briar for their hospitality and service.

Borrisoleigh Historical Society

Monday 22nd May saw a fine turnout in the Community Centre for a talk on famine times in Borrisoleigh and on the mass evictions at Cullohill in 1850. Following the talk, Sofiia Mandrusiak from Kolomyiia spoke about the historical connections between the history Ukraine and Ireland and also on the current state of affairs in her country. The text of her speech is available here.

Borrisoleigh Active Social Club

A group from our club headed off to Kildare last Friday.  First stop was The National Stud and Japanese Gardens.  It was a beautiful day and the tour around the fabulous horses was so interesting.  Later in the day we headed onto Newbridge Silverware.  There we saw style of some of the icons including 3 dresses belonging to Princess Diana.

Many thanks to our bus driver Eoin and to Borrisoleigh Bottling for giving us water for the trip which was well received.  More photos from the day are in the gallery.
Our next trip is on July 4th to Tramore beach and Mount Congreve.
We are holding a coffee morning and cake sale on June 16th in the Community Centre.
Our next meeting is on Wed June 7th at 7pm in the Community Centre.  This is our last meeting until the Autumn.
