Thought for the week

Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, “I will try again tomorrow.”

Borrisoleigh Active Social Club

Borrisoleigh Active Social Club are holding a Progressive 45 Drive on Saturday April 6th at 8pm in the Community Centre, Borrisoleigh.  €1000 prize fund . Teas and raffle on the night.  Tickets €10 are available from members of the club.

Congratulations to our GAA club on organising two very successful events in the last 2 weeks.  Firstly they had their Strictly Come Dancing with all local and very talented dancers.  Last Saturday night the Tumbling Paddies took to the stage.  It’s proving that the GAA Complex is a great facility and we wish our local lads continued success on and off the field.

It was the end of an era last Friday as our postmistress Mary Costello closed the door of the post office for the last time. The Costello family had operated the Post Office in Borrisoleigh for a number of generations.  We’d like to wish Mary well in her retirement and say a BIG THANK YOU  for everything you did in helping out the people of the Community.

Borris-Ileigh GAA History Book

Hi all,

I’ve been tasked with compiling and writing a history of GAA activity in the primary schools, e.g. North Finals/ County Finals, Primary Game, INTO mini sevens etc.

The more recent history is fairly well documented, however older records are sparse. I don’t want to leave anyone out!

If you are aware of any noteworthy GAA related facts from 1987 to present in relation to Fantane NS, St Theresa’s GNS, St Patrick BNS or Scoil Naomh Cualán please get in contact with me at scoilnaomhcualan@gmail.com. Or you can drop photos, newspaper cuttings etc. into the school and I’ll photocopy or scan what’s needed.

I’m looking for photos of teams, photos of Primary Game representatives, write ups from finals, coaches that were involved over the years, pupils who went on to represent Tipperary in the various codes, GAA quiz winners etc.

Many thanks for your help,

Michael Small
