Borrisoleigh Playground

The Borrisoleigh Playground Committee would like to announce the confirmation of the planned and long overdue refurbishment of our playground. We are delighted to have secured a Leader Grant.  The playground was originally established in 2001 with the great work of the previous committee and local community. Now in 2018 we can excitedly look forward to a revamp!

We have been working away for the last couple of years to secure this grant, having fundraised with the wonderful support of the Borrisoleigh Cycling Club and of course our big event held in Youngs of the Ragg   “ Tie the Knot or Not “ {one of the best weddings we were ever at!! All involved in that were just absolutely fantastic}. These events combined gave us the start we needed to approach Leader and go through all the hoops necessary to secure the Grant. Our committee Laura Ryan, Marie Maher, Janice Farrell, Evelyn McGrath and Kate Bourke have worked really hard to bring it to this stage. Thanks to Laura as secretary. She played a very important roll regarding the paper work involved.

We have been fortunate to have also got some sponsorship from a couple of local businesses. Full details and an acknowledgment of those to follow. A mention to Michael Lowry who not only wore the collar for the cause, but gave us the support we needed. The community in general, and surrounding areas have showed such great support for this worthy cause. We are truly grateful and have done the best we can do for you all.

We have over 200 children here in Borrisoleigh under the age of 12 not to mention those who visit for various reasons. A safe and happy playground is something we deserve and need and we are happy to say it’s on the way. All going well we are hoping to have completion by March/April.
