Community Bike Ride November 26th

Sunday November 26th the group left Borrisoleigh at 10am. Weather wasn’t great but we didn’t let that dampen our spirits. We made our way through Templemore and continued onto Loughmore. Here we stopped and enjoyed a well earned coffee stop and fresh baked treats. Mary and the ladies were on hand to look after us so well as always. We made our way back to Borrisoleigh via the Ragg.  A great cycle with great friends. Well done everyone and safe cycling to you all.

Cian Qualifies For All-Ireland Final

Cian Cowan

Turnpike played host to the recent Munster Cross Country Championship, where over 1400 of the province’s best young athletes competed in the various age categories in their quest for provincial glory.

In the Under 11 boys grade, Cian Cowan lined up at the start line for what was his debut performance at provincial level.

The standard of action on display on the day was extremely high but it didn’t faze the young Borrisoleigh athlete as he worked his way through the field in impressive fashion despite losing one of his spikes early in the race.

Cian’s superb overall effort got its just reward when he earned a place on the Tipperary team that finished in third spot overall, which saw him win his first provincial medal while also qualifying for the All Ireland Final.

Cian will travel to Navan on Sunday next as part of the Tipperary team for the National finals.

Best of luck Cian.

Munster Glory for Laoise & Niamh

Florence, Emily, Niamh & Laoise

Laoise Cowan and Niamh Keane travelled to Riverstick in Cork on Sunday last to participate in the Munster ‘B’ Under 9 Cross Country Championships.

The girls showed no fear of the tough course that saw a climb to the finish line for the full second half of the race.

A superb sixth place finish by Laoise saw her claim an individual medal and with Niamh finishing in eighteenth position, both girls secured places on the Tipperary team that claimed second place overall.

The day was finished off brilliantly when Templemore A/C were named as bronze medal winners in the club event where Laoise and Niamh were joined by Florence McGuiness and Emily Franks.
