Bush & Briar Ramblers

Another busy weekend for the Bush & Briar Ramblers with walking on last Saturday and Easter Monday in the best of weather conditions.

The Saturday walk was in Kilcommon to mark Pilgrim Paths Day and the group had a pleasant stroll along the Pilgrim Loop and enjoyed lunch from the summit of MauherSlieve with magnificent views in all directions for company.
Easter Monday saw the Ramblers explore the unseen side of the Devils Bit with a little bit of scrambling added into the mix to raise the heart rate and of course a visit to the Cross on the little Rock as is a tradition on Easter Monday.

Well done to all the walkers and thanks for supporting our walks.

Borris-Ileigh Juvenile GAA

Our U12 footballers will face Ballina in the U12b North Semi Final this Friday evening. Best wishes to all concerned.

The U14 hurlers have been busy in the last week. On Friday evening we played a Moneygall / Templederry combination and emerged victorious in the North Tipp Feile (b) Semi Final putting in an excellent performance. There was not much time to recover however and we played Shannon Rover Gaels in the Final on Easter Monday and emerged as winners on a scoreline 3-05 to 1-05. Again the lads put in a fine performance. Two first half goals from Raymond Mc Cormack and Harry Younge set the scene. In the second half the Rovers scored a couple of early points to narrow the gap. However the third goal from a long range free by Kevin Maher settled the issue. The team Captain Oran Bergin accepted the shield on behalf of this hardworking panel of players. We will now play the Mid Tipperary winners yet to be confirmed in the Feile County Semi Final on Saturday week the 3rd of May. The County Feile Final will also be played on the same date.

The U14 Footballers are to play Burgess tonight Wednesday in Kilcolman.

The Club would like to thank all those who supported its annual table quiz in the Marian Hall on Good Friday night last. Congratulations to the winning team Laura Ryan, Alan Ryan, Seamus Ryan and Julie Treacy and to Gerry Treacy, Tom Hurley , Claire Hurley and James Gould who were runners up. The Juvenile winners on the night were Oran & Killian Bergin, Ray Mc Cormack, Aaron Donnelly and Conor Keane with Gerry Kelly, Patrick O’ Connell, Aaron Reid and John Ryan runners up. Thanks to all those who sponsored prizes and to Tomas Russell who compiled the questions that ensured a very enjoyable night for all.

Over 100 teams took part last year and we hope to see the same and more this year. A team of 4 costs just €120.
