 Holy Rosary School South Africa

 Bishop Shanahan Hall

In August 2011 a group of pupils and teachers from the Holy Rosary School in South Africa came to Borrisoleigh to pay homage to Bishop Joseph Shanahan, founder of their school. A commemorative stone was placed at the monument of Bishop Shanahan to honour the visit of this Holy Rosary School to the birthplace of its founder. The school has just recently finished building a magnificent new hall named “The Bishop Shanahan Hall”.

Visit from Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland

Francoise showing how a circuit can be made using potatoes

The boys were very busy during October. We had a great visit from Francoise who works for SEAI. (Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland) She told us all about fossil fuels, electricity and renewable energy. Following her lesson and experiments the whole school then visited Templederry windfarm where we learned how the windmills operate and generate renewable energy.
