U21 Hurling: Hard luck to our under 21 team who were knocked out of the north championship by Kilruane on Sunday afternoon. It was a hard fought game by a very young Borris side. The score was 1-13 to 0-13. The defeat now brings to an end our involvement in the competition. We would like to thank all those involved with the team for their time and effort throughout the year.
Captaincy: Massive congratulations are in order to Brendan Maher who has been appointed as Tipperary Senior Hurling Team Captain. This is a fantastic honour for Brendan and we are sure he will lead Tipperary the same way that he has been leading Borris.
New walkway: As many have noticed the new walkway is now open for use during the day. We hope to have the lights in operation either this week or the next. We ask people to respect the new facility and to keep it clean of rubbish. We also ask that people do not walk their dogs on the track without a leash as there will be children in the vicinity.

Jim Egan 7s: Borris-Ileigh GAA have been invited to take place in the Jim Egan 7s tournament this Saturday in Puckane. It promises to be a great day and support is greatly welcomed.

Borrisoleigh Charity Cycle 2013 Presentation

The presentation of the total sponsorship raised for Pieta House Roscrea took place on Saturday 19th of October in Stapletons Bar. Borrisoleigh native Gerry Kearney who is a committee member in the Pieta House organisation accepted the cheque for over €6,500 from the Cycle. Gerry outlined the tremendous work that Pieta House do for those affected by Self-Harm and Suicide. Gerry was delighted with the community effort that is involved in organising the Borrisoleigh Cycle every year. He said such fundraising was inspirational and hugely important for the local community as well as the beneficiaries. He was very proud to accept the cheque on behalf of Pieta House Roscrea from his home village.

In addition Ruairi O’Connell and P.J. Delaney were invited to meet the founder of Pieta House Joan Freeman in the Pieta House Roscrea Centre last week. Joan wanted to acknowledge the tremendous work of the Borrisoleigh Community in raising such a tremendous amount of money for the Roscrea Centre. She outlined how busy the centre had become since it opened in July and reiterated just how important such fundraising was to Pieta House and to let the people involved know that our donation will help to save lives and we should be very proud of our efforts. So well done to everyone who played a part in this years event.
