St Cualan’s Senior Citizens Christmas Party

The St Cualan’s Senior Citizens Committee – Angela McSherry, Teresa Stapleton, Nora Delaney, Fr. Nicholas J. Irwin, Frances Kennedy and Margaret Kelly

St Cualan’s Senior Citizens held their annual Christmas party in the Community Centre on Sunday last 4th December. The event commenced with the celebration of Mass by our chairperson Fr. Nicholas J Irwin CC. Our local choir enhanced the liturgy with their traditional hymns and Christmas carols.

Santa Claus greeted our party-goers with a hug and a present at the Community Centre. At this point we would like to say thanks to our old Santa Mick Small for all the fun, laughter and “craic” he has given over the past twenty one years and we wish him well. Thanks to our new Santa Phil Maher for his willingness to help out on the day. This is a great day for our senior citizens to exchange greetings and to reflect on the past year. It was a great evening and it was wonderful to have all our friends turn up for such a great party.

Thanks to Ger Devaney and his team for such delicious food. As usual Phil Maher and John Maher our loyal friends provided the music. They were also joined by the Kavanagh family, Borrisoleigh ballad group and of course Mary Ryan, John McGrath and Mai Ryan entertained us with their singing.

A special word of thanks to all the Committee members and to all the sponsors who come up trumps every year.

We wish you all a very holy, happy and peaceful Christmas and every good wish for the New Year 2012.
