Under 8 County Development Blitz:
Well done to our Under 8 team who travelled to Dundrum on Saturday last to participate in a County Development Blitz where they played against teams from the host club Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams,  Thurles Sarsfields and Moyne Templetouhy.

Under 10’s in Monaleen:
Our Under 10 team travelled to Monaleen in Limerick on Sunday last to participate in a blitz against teams from Sixmilebridge and Monaleen.

Under 12’s defeat Burgess:
Our Under 12 White team continued their fine form and progress when they recorded a victory over a good Burgess Duharra team following an excellent game of camogie.

They are now due to play Nenagh Eire Og in their final match in the round robin series on tomorrow night (Thursday) in the Park.

Both of our Under 12 teams travelled to Monaleen on Sunday last where they played against Na Piarsaigh, Ballybrown and Monaleen in a series of  challenge matches.

Defeat for Under 14s:
Our Under 14 season came to a halt last week following a two point defeat to Slieve Felim Rapparees in the County “B” semi-final.
It was a fantastic display from our girls after they found themselves 8 points down early in the second half and fought back to level terms heading into the closing stages but in the end a late Rapparees rally proved decisive in claiming the victory.

County Duty:
Congratulations to Abi Kelly who was on the Tipperary Under 14 “A” team that won the Munster Development Blitz in Waterford.

Congrats also to Julieanne Bourke, Nicole Walsh and team coach Denis Kelly on securing a one point victory over Wexford in Enniscorthy to keep their Championship hopes alive.

Planting Trees

Roman and Tetiana Mandrusiak from Kolomyya, Ukraine,- planting two apple trees on the reclaimed ground on the Thurles Road. All our hopes and prayers are, that by the time that they bear fruit, their beloved Ukraine will be free and at peace once more.

Evening webinar for Communities Taking Action on Energy

Next Tuesday evening, June 28th at 8pm, there will be a short online webinar on supports for Communities to save and generate energy.

The event will feature a short presentation by Gearóid Fitzgibbon about the Sustainable Energy Communities programme, followed by discussion and Q&A. The event will be of interest to local development associations, tidy towns groups, community councils, as well as people involved with community centres, creches, GAA clubs etc.

The Sustainable Energy Communities (SEC) programme is a special initiative by the SEAI (the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) up and running since 2016. It offers support and funding to groups interested in developing energy-related projects. Once groups register, they can get advice and support from the community energy mentor, to help scope out potential projects. They also have become a part of a network of over 600 other communities across Ireland.  Community groups can get a 100% grant funded “Community Energy Plan” worth €10,000. Completing this local Energy Plan identifies viable projects and gives access to significant Capital Funding available.

Gearóid Fitzgibbon is the community energy mentor for Tipperary, under the SEC programme. This is coordinated locally by Ballyhoura Development, including Clare Local Development Company, North and East Kerry Development, who provide  mentor  support to communities in Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Cork and Kerry, under the Sustainable Energy Communities Programme.

Gearóid is an experienced facilitator and community planner, and has vast experience in helping develop local energy initiatives in Ireland.

To register for this webinar, text your name, email address and community group to 085-7409023. You will then receive an email with the link to the Webinar, which will be held on Zoom.  You can also call Gearóid on the same number.

Photography Exhibition

Templemore Library will host a photography exhibition during the months of June and July 2022 entitled “The Wonderful World of Nature Photography”. The exhibition will run from the middle of June to the end of July and will be available to view during the library opening hours. It’s free of charge and well worth a visit. You might be surprised at what you see.

This exhibition is a collection of photographs from the lens of John F Kennedy.  John F is not a photographer, but he is a lover of nature with a camera. He is a former army sergeant and is an outdoors enthusiast, spending a lot of his spare time on our hills and mountains either walking or cycling and his camera is never far away. Closer to home, one of his favourite places is Templemore Town Park and the Park is featured heavily in this exhibition.

This exhibition is a vision of the natural world all around us as seen through his lens.

The goal of this exhibition is to showcase the wide and wonderful world of nature on our doorstep.

This is only a glimpse into the natural world and not a definitive catalogue of all local wildlife but rather a collection of images that can be added to.
