Borrisoleigh Active Social Club

Borrisoleigh Active Social Club had a great time away recently in Kenmare. 39 members headed off for a 3 night break away.  Included in the break was a visit to The Allihies Copper Mines and a boat trip to Garnish Island.  They visited Castletownbere, Bantry,  Glengarriff and Kenmare. Entertainment along the way was top class.

Our next outing is to The Talbot Hotel in Clonmel on Nov 3rd for the Louise Morrissey and friends concert . If we have enough interest we’ll take a bus so give your name to either Eileen Slattery 087 9849848 or Lucia Ryan 086 3961211 before Fri Oct 20th.
The next meeting is on Wed Nov 1st at 7pm in the Community Centre Borrisoleigh.

Greyhound History

Thurles Greyhound stadium will be hosting their 75th anniversary celebration on Saturday 27th October 2023. This got me thinking about all the wonderful greyhound people and great greyhounds that came from Borrisoleigh over the years. There are so many funny stories and famous victories and lifelong friendships that were built through owning greyhounds and I would love to hear from anyone who has a photo, a story or a memory to share.
I’m interested in all stories and old photos  connected to greyhounds not just the champions.
Hopefully I’ll find out some interesting information put something together to be published on this Borrisoleigh website in a few weeks time.
Thanks very much.
