Community Centre Borrisoleigh

St. Stephen’s Day Fun Run, Walk and Cycle

Christmas time is almost upon us and we are delighted to be able to look forward to the St. Stephen’s Day activities in aid of the Community Centre once again after a two year break due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Our run as usual, will start at 11am from the Community Centre and proceed up Pallas St. and down to the GAA fields for three laps of the park and return to the centre. There will be prizes for the first home in the men’s and women’s races as well as prizes for our younger winners.

The cycle will leave at 10am. Please contact P.J. Delaney for information on the cycle.

The walkers can arrive anytime from 10:15am to 11am and start their walk immediately, this will avoid groups of people gathering and will help us to comply with Covid regulations.

Tea and refreshments will be served in the centre as usual but there will be Covid procedures in place. With the activity times spread out we hope to have people arriving back to the centre at different times. Again, this will help to stop big groups gathering together. Please be Covid conscious, keep your distance and only congregate in family pods.

The usual spot prizes will be on offer and our bucket collection will take place in the Community Centre Hall.

In order to bring some colour and a Christmas theme into the day’s events, we are giving spot prizes to the best dressed Santa or festive fancy dress! There will be best male, female and best dressed family! Fr. Hennessy will be our judge on the day.

Please come out and enjoy the morning and help support the Community Centre, but please, at all times be safe and comply with the Covid regulations.

We looked forward to seeing you all, from the Community Centre Committee.

Happy Christmas!

Sacristan’s Departure: As you are probably aware our Sacristan Noreen Ryan and her husband Sean have left for Ennis where they are now living.  Noreen was Sacristan in both our Churches for over 30 years. Noreen was totally dedicated to her role.  She was always there whether it be for a funeral, wedding, baptism, carol service, weekday or Sunday mass.  She took great pride in her work and she regarded both our churches as her own. Noreen was very obliging and always willing to help in any way she could.

We are going to have a special collection for Noreen, the proceeds of which will go towards a presentation.  This collection will be taken up at all Masses the weekend of Nov 20th/21st.  You may also give your donation to Frances or Sinead in the Parish Centre or drop it in at the Parochial House.

To show your appreciation for Noreen I would ask to give generously as you can to this special Collection.  Fr. Gerard Hennessy P.P.

Thought for the week: Life always offers you a second chance it’s called tomorrow.
