Appeal for News

This is an appeal to those of you who are involved in various activities (limited as they might be in the current circumstances), not to forget to send us an email with a few lines and maybe a photo or two publicising what you are doing. The regular users of this site (particularly those not on social media) would like to see them and it will help paint a fuller picture of what is taking place in and around Borrisoleigh. Borris-Ileigh Camogie Club Notes

Winning Start for Intermediates

Our Intermediate team opened their league campaign with a hard fought home victory over Cahir last Saturday evening. Fielding a youthful team, the management team will be well pleased with their overall performance.

Six points from the brilliant Aedín Hogan in the opening half were complimented by two from Noreen Stapleton and one from Katie Fitzgerald to see us two ahead at half-time on a 0-09 to 1-04 scoreline.

Two further points from Aedín were cancelled out by a goal and a point from the opposition to leave it all square with time almost up. After been awarded a free in injury team, we had a chance to claim a victory, a chance that Aedín impressively slotted between the posts to win on a final scoreline of 0-12 to 2-05.

Under 12 Whites Victory

Our Under 12 White team travelled to Nenagh on Saturday morning to play the second round of the Championship. The first half saw some excellent camogie played from both teams and when the half-time whistle sounded, we found ourselves two goals to the good thanks to strikes from Emma Bevans and Maria Groome.

Nenagh scored a brilliant goal from the restart to narrow the deficit. The reaction of the Borris girls was brilliant as they all drove forward with every opportunity and their efforts were rewarded with the raising of four more green flags.

The team’s next outing is next Friday night with a home outing against Silvermines at 7pm.

Under 8 Blitz

The Park in Borris was awash with the stars of the camogie future on Saturday morning with the first of the county blitzes. We were delighted to have teams from Drom-Inch and Nenagh visit in what turned out to be a very entertaining morning’s play.

Well done to all the young players and their coaches and they will now be all looking forward to next month’s blitz.

County Under 14s

Congratulations to Therese Groome and Eve Maher who were part of the Tipperary Under 14 B team that defeated Galway over the weekend.

County Under 16s:

Congratulations to Aoife Fitzgerald and Mike Galvin (manager) who were part of the Tipperary Under 16 team that defeated Limerick to qualify for the All-Ireland semi-final next weekend against Kilkenny.

Under 14s:

Our Under 14’s are up against Shannon Rovers tomorrow (Thursday) night in Ballinderry with a 7:30pm throw in.
