St. Joseph’s College – Tipperary 1st Year Boys Futsal Champions

Borrisoleigh A&B Teams

St Joseph’s fielded two teams in this Futsal 5 a side tournament for 1st Yr boys from secondary schools throughout Tipperary.  With ten teams competing in all, two groups were formed.  In the St Joseph’s College A teams’ group, the battle with Borrisokane (reigning All Ireland champions) would prove the decisive game to determine who would top the group.  The St Joseph’s B team unfortunately did not progress in their group with Rockwell topping the group.  The Final between St Joseph’s A team and Rockwell ended in a 1-1 draw.  Four minutes into extra time a St Joseph’s corner was deflected into the net by a Rockwell defender for St Joseph’s to be crowned Tipperary Futsal 1st Yr Boys Champions for 2012.

St Josephs College represents Tipperary in the Munster finals in the Nenagh Arena next week.

Letter from Brasil

Fr Matt out on missionary trips on horseback

Hello to you all in the Borrisoleigh.  At the moment we are going through a terrible drought period here in the North East of Brasil.  In many parts its considered the worst in the last 30 years.  The dead cattle are to be seen all over the place, dying from lack of water and grass. There´s a terrible shortage of water in so many places, so please dont be complaining too much about the rain in Ireland.  If you were living through what so many families are experiencing here in these parts your attitude to rain might change!  Happy Christmas to all at the Borris Website and to the website readers.  Fr. Matt in Brasil.

Borris-Ileigh GAA Notes

Junior C Hurling:  Unfortunately we went down to Borrisokane by a few points in Dolla last Saturday afternoon in this North semi-final clash.  We had lots of chances in both halves but drove a lot of wides.  Great credit is due to this team and well done to the management team and all involved.  Our hurling year is now ended and thanks to everyone who helped out during the year.

Reminder of our AGM in the Pavilion on Sunday next 9th December at 6pm. All nominations and motions have been received. Next year promises to be a very exciting year for the club both on and off the field and all the support we can get from the community would be so very welcome, if you have any interest in getting involved with the club next year in any shape or form, a club member, joining the committee, even as a coach please dont hesitate to come along on the night.

The best of luck to the Camogie team this weekend coming in the final against Kilruane.

The club extends its deepest sympathy to the Spooner family on the passing away of their mother recently.  Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis.

Borrisoleigh Camoige Notes

It was a quite week on the Borrisoleigh Camogie front.  The Junior team continue to prepare for the county final.  The replay of the Junior A county semi-final between Holycross/Ballycahill and Kilruane MacDonaghs was changed to Saturday Dec 1st at 1pm in Kilcoleman (Burgess), the referee was Philip Bergin.  After a close game in good conditions Kilruane emerged as winners on the day.  Borrisoleigh V’s Kilruane MacDonaghs Junior A County Final will go now ahead on Saturday the 8th at 1pm in Templederry.   We look forward to playing in the final as it is over 2 months since we won our semi-final.  We will do our best for Siobhan and Joanne who are both out of the country at the moment.   Best of luck to the panel and mentors.
