Borrisoleigh Camoige News

The camogie club had a very busy week on Thursday our Junior team played the fourth round of the championship at the Camogie Grounds, The Ragg against Fethard.  Again they had another win, well done ladies and trainers.  The first half was all Borrisoleigh’s with the score at half time 4-9 to 0-2.  Borrisoleigh continued to be the stronger team in the second half again clocking up another 5 points.  The score at full time being Borris 4-14 Fethard 0-5.  The scorers for Borrisoleigh were Jane McCormack 0-3, Nicole Walsh 1-8, Deirdre Corcoran 3-1, Noirin Stapleton 0-1, Sinead Ryan 0-1.   The fifth round of championship is on Saturday the 22nd September at home against Holycross at 7 p.m.

On Friday we hosted the Tomás Max tournament at 6 pm in the park.  The visiting teams were Moycarkey, Silvermines and Roscrea.   There were fine performances from all the teams with some great camogie skills on display on a fine dry evening.  Roscrea won the tournament.   The club would like to thank the following, the Tomás Max family, the referees Paul Kennedy and Aisling Kiely, all those who helped to set up the fields, all those who made food for the evening, all who helped in any way and the visiting teams it was a great evening of camogie well done to all involved.  The under 10’s will have their last Blitz of the season next Saturday the 15th September in the Camogie Grounds The Ragg.

On Saturday morning our under 8’s had a Blitz in the Camogie Grounds, The Ragg again they got on exceptionally well.  Photos will be available soon in a gallery.  The other teams on the day were Drom & Inch, Toomevara, and Kilruane.  Their next and last blitz of the season will be on Saturday the 22nd September in The Ragg.  Saturday afternoon saw our under 13’s compete in the quarter final of the league against Moyle Rovers.  Unfortunately on the day Moyle Rovers were the winners by 2 points.   The girls played well in front of a fine crowd of supporters.   A lot of the team are still young so things look promising for next year.  Final score Moyle Rovers 2-2 Borrisoleigh1-3.

Juniors training Wednesday at 7 pm and Friday at 6.30 pm.  The club would like to wish Jody every success in his studies across the water and thank him for his to commitment to the team to date.  We would also like to welcome Brendan, Paddy and Eamon on board.
