 ‘Celebrity Day’ at The Boys’ School Raises Funds for Haiti

St. Patrick’s BNS was a very interesting place to visit on Friday last when ‘celebrities’ abounded to help raise funds for Haiti. Having been touched by the plight of the earthquake victims the pupils of St. Patrick’s came up with a number of innovative ideas to show their support in a practical way at this time of great need. Following a vote they finally decided to hold a ‘Celebrity Day’ and are delighted to report that it was a wonderful success.

Among the ‘celebrities’ who attended on the day were ‘Ryan Tubridy’, ‘ Mr. Tayto’, ‘Jedward’, ‘Michael Jackson’, ‘Pat Shortt’, ‘Michael Owen’, ‘Brendan Maher’, ‘Rob Kearney ‘, ‘Paul O’ Connell’, Fernando Torres’, ‘Brian Rousseau(South African Rugby)’, ‘Jamie Afro’, ‘Bart Simpson’, ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Snake Guy’, ‘Greenday’, ‘Captain Underpants’, ‘Star Wars Clone Trooper’, ‘Jay Sean’, ‘Diouf’, Steven Gerrard’, ‘Brendan Cummins’, ‘Gerry Flannery’, ‘Tom Cruise’, ‘Brian Habanna,’ (S.A. Rugby), ‘Clinton Hennessy’, ‘Andy Lee’, ‘Dappy’, Wayne Rooney’, ‘Paul Kelly’, ‘Berbator’, ‘Robbie Keane’, ‘Noel Mc Grath’, ‘ Joan Burton’, ‘Wally’ (from Where’s Wally?) along with cowboys, a robber and rappers.

We would like to thank all these celebrities for taking time out of their busy schedules and helping us to raise €1,006.20 which has gone directly to those most in need! Sincere thanks to the pupils, staff, families and to all who helped to make this day such a success. How many ‘celebrities’ can you spot enjoying the atmosphere on the day?

Table Quiz

 
A Table Quiz will take place on Friday 26th February in Stapleton’s Bar in aid of the Haven Partnership (www.havenpartnership.com).  Haven is an Irish charity involved in building homes for the people of Haiti and one of our Website Committee members, Enda Ryan, has volunteered to join their "Build it Week" in Haiti in April 2010.  Tables are €40 and your support would be greatly appreciated.  There will also be a raffle for spot prizes on the night.
