On Sunday night last a huge crowd turned out in The Ragg to support the Niall Mellon Township Trust, Benefit Night. We (Paraic, Frank, Diarmuid, Noel and Henry) would like to express our utmost gratitude to all who supported us and made it such a successful night.

A special mention must go to Donal and Rose Younge for the use of their premises, Silver Dollar, Rebel Hearts, Minus 1 and Zig & Zag for providing such great entertainment, Mount Wolseley Hotel, Kinnane Plant Hire, Inch House, Sheehan’s Restaurant, Glesson Group, Serla Print, McLoughlin Road Markings and Stakelum’s Office Supplies for their generous sponsorship.

We are all looking forward to our trip to Cape Town which will see us off on the 28th November for one week of rewarding endeavors.

Enjoying the night in the Ragg are Orla Kinane, Julie Treacy, Michelle Maher and Meave Dooley

Borrisoleigh Family Fun Day in July

Borrisoleigh Life-Savers’ Action Group is planning a Family Fun Day for Sunday July 6th in the Town Park. Some ideas being proposed at present are a classic car rally, a vintage tractor rally, tug of war, novelty races, face painting, bric-a-brac stall, celebrity bainisteoir, long puck etc. The local Foróige Club is also getting involved and is going to help out with a wet sponge attraction!

This Family Fun Day promises to be a great community event. So, don’t be the odd one out when everyone else on the planet is in the Town Park (it’s not a small park!!!), on the Thurles Road just in case you were wondering!

A table quiz in aid of the Borrisoleigh Defibrillator Programme will also be held in the Clodagh Bar on Friday June 13th commencing at 9.30 p.m. The quiz master will be Thomas Russell. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Borrisoleigh Juvenille GAA

U12 Hurling Championship We got off to a great start in this competition with a great win away to Templederry. However, we were narrowly defeated by Ballina last week. Our next match is away to Kildangan next Friday 6th June.

U14 Hurling Parish League was due to take place in the week leading up to the June Bank Holiday weekend with the Finals on Bank Holiday Monday. Due to the start of the Hurling championship it was decided to postpone the competition. It will be rescheduled to take place later in the year possibly September when the football Parish league will also be played. The draw for team captains has taken place and they are Hurling, Seamus Howard, Philip Fahy, John Fitzgerald and Cathal O’Connell. Football Theresa Ryan, Darragh Ryan, Shane McCormack and Seamus Doolan.

Peadar Cummins U14 Inter Divisional Tournament takes place in Borrisoleigh next Saturday. This tournament is in honour of a great stalwart of Borris-Ileigh Juvenille Club and always produces some great hurling from all the young players. Good luck to our own representative Shane McCormack on the North division squad. As this is a busy day for the juvenile club it would be appreciated if all committee members could provide refreshments and lend a hand on the day.

The Score-Keepers

Keeping the scoreboard at a recent match in the Park between Portroe and Clonakenny were Danny Ryan, Micheál Carey, Seán Kenny and Shane Kenny, all members of the Borris’ u-12 hurling team.
