DAFFODIL DAY 2019

Daffodil Day will take place in Borrisoleigh next Friday 22nd March. Volunteers will be located in the Square, Hurley’s and Centra.

Donations of fresh Daffodils at any of these locations are welcome.

Borris-Ileigh GAA Notes

“Tipperary Water” County Senior Hurling League:
Our Seniors will aim to build on their opening round draw against Drom Inch when they take on Moycarkey Borris in Round 2 of the “Tipperary Water” County Senior Hurling League. This game was originally due to take place on Sunday the 17th of March but will now take place on next sinday the 24th in Littleton at 12pm. Best of luck to both players and management. All support greatly appreciated.

North Junior Hurling League:
Our Junior ‘A’s will get there 2019 season up and running this Saturday when they take on Kilruane MacDonaghs in Round 1 of the North Junior ‘A’ Hurling League. This Group 1 game will take place at 4pm in Cloughjordan. Best of luck to both players and management. All support greatly appreciated.

Michael Clifford Fundraising Tractor Run and Benefit Night 

The Michael Clifford Fundraising Tractor Run and Benefit Night was held in Rearcross in aid of Tipperary Branch of Multiple Sclerosis…. The Total  figure  raised  was  €10,705.49  ….On behalf of Michael Clifford and the organizing committee  a massive “Thank You” to everybody who helped in anyway and for all your donations and contributions to the fund.  It was a fantastic turn out from all the community and from the neighbouring parishes.  – PRESENTATION NIGHT at Kennedy’s Bar, Rearcross on Saturday night 23rd March @ 9.30pm Everybody welcome.

REARCROSS COMMUNITY COUNCIL  would like to thank all those that supported the recent 45 Drive –  those who sold & bought tickets, those who gave sponsorship & spot prizes on the night. Also the Ladies Club for providing refreshments. Non gamble winners on the night were

National Community Event

The National Community Event is to be held for the first time over the May Bank Holiday weekend, 2019. The event is a celebration of the great spirit of community that exists across the country and an effort to help people who share communities to come together, get to know each other and deepen the sense of community in their area. Local communities are asked to come up with ideas for events in their areas. Events could be centered around food, sport, the environment or health and culture.

Applications are welcome from community and voluntary groups, organisations and residents’ committees within County Tipperary. For more information and application forms please see the Tipperary County Council page. Completed application forms must be submitted by 4pm on 21st March.

Borrisoleigh Active Social Club

At our March meeting last week we had a Community Protection Advisor from The Ulster Bank.  She made us aware of some awful scams going on and gave us tips of how to be careful when banking or doing things on-line. 

A few events for the calendar: May 1st we hope to head to Manor Stone and Garden Centre in Ballacolla. June 12th or 19th we are heading to the Dáil. 
Sept 1st we are arranging a  3 night break in the 4 Star Clayton Hotel Galway.  Luxury coach & tour guide from Borrisoleigh, 3 nights Dinner and B & B. 4 days touring including Cong Guided Tour & Quietman Cottage. 3 nights of Entertainment all for €359pps.  If you are interested in any of the above or need more information  please contact Lucia 086 3961221
