Hard luck to our U-13 hurlers who lost the North Final to Silvermines. They tried hard, gave everything they had and they did their very best, but unfortunately they came up short.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
“Every setback is a stepping stone to something greater.”
Borrisoleigh Active Social Club
We recently visited Cabragh Wetlands, which is situated just outside of Thurles. We had a very enjoyable & educational afternoon. We learnt that
Cabragh Wetlands is the biggest single area of freshwater semi-natural floodplain habitat on the River Suir. It plays a crucial role in conservation efforts, serving as habitats for diverse flora and fauna while also providing essential ecosystem services such as water filtration and flood control. It offers opportunities for recreation, allowing people to engage in activities like birdwatching, fishing, and hiking, fostering a connection with nature. We thank the volunteers who shared their expertise & knowledge on all things nature related. We were treated to refreshments on arrival, followed by soup & sandwiches before we left.
Our next outing is a trip to Bru Boru Theatre in Cashel on 29th Aug. to see Derek Ryan in concert. Then in September we are going to Lisdoonvarna on 12th & the Races at Nass Racecourse on 18th. A group of 43 people are heading to the Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim on 28th Sept. for 3 nights, so there’s lots in store for our members. Our next meeting will take place in the parish centre on Wednesday 3rd September at 7pm. All are welcome!
