Christmas Arrangements
Borrisoleigh Bridge Club
Borrisoleigh Historical Society
As 2025 draws to a close, Borrisoleigh Historical Society wish all our patrons, friends and supporters a happy Christmas and a peaceful new year. We would like to thank everyone who supported and attended our lectures and various other activities throughout the year.
Our lecture series included a broad range of speakers who presented on a wide range of topics. Unique for a small community such as Borrisoleigh, many of our lecturers were from or resident in the parish. This shows that not only is there a depth of history within the parish of Borrisoleigh that is there to be explored, researched and documented but there is no shortage of capable and willing people about to do so.
The highlight of our activities during the past year has to be the series of historic village walks that we conducted over the Spring and Summer months. These were professionally recorded and the final product was launched in the local GAA Sports Complex by ex-Ambassador Joe Small. This production, includes over five hours of footage, is available on digital format and in times to come, will be a source of invaluable material for future generations who wish to look back on life in Borrisoleigh in days gone by. For our Borrisoleigh diaspora, it has also proven to be of great interest. Shortly after its launch, in a venue of a small town in faraway Canada, on two consecutive evenings, showings of the footage attracted capacity audiences.
P.S. –
There are a limited number of copies available on memory stick format that are available from the society.
