All advertising and upcoming events will be included in this section, with a link each week from the Current News page. Primary Game Team


All at St. Patrick’s BNS would like to congratulate Raymond on being chosen as a member of the Tipperary Primary Game Hurling Team which will play Limerick at Semple Stadium on Sunday next. This is a great honour for Raymond and for our school and we wish him, Brendan, Paddy and the Tipperary team every success on Sunday.
 


Borrisoleigh Life Savers Action Group

Borrisoleigh Life Savers Action Group will hold a Church Gate Collection this coming weekend, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of May. The funds raised will enable the group to maintain the defibrillators in place around the community. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

A big congratulations to Ann Marie Kavanagh who was victorious in the solo singing competition and Rory Kennedy who was also victorious in the instrumental music in the Macra National Talent Final which took place last Saturday night in the Helix in DCU. Also well done to Laura Ryan who secured third place in the Master Mind competition. It was her second apperance in the National Talent Final over the last few years!

Borris Ileigh Juvenile GAA Club

This year the Club will be hosting the Kellogg’s Cúl camp from 2 July to 6 July. Full details can be obtained and places booked at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.
 

U14 Football: On Saturday evening last our under 14 footballers beat Portroe 5-03 to 3-08 after extra time. On Monday night the U14 gave a great display against Ballina in the quarter final. A couple of late scores conceded meant we lost out narrowly on a scoreline 4 –07 to 3-06. Well done to the U14’s footballers who have made great progress this season.
The U12 Footballers are drawn against Clerihan in the U12 Football County Quarter Finals. The date of the fixture has yet to be confirmed.
On this Sat 26 May in association with the County Bord Na Nóg we host the annual inter divisional Peadar Cummins U14 Hurling tournament. This tournament is dedicated to the memory of Peadar Cummins who spent many years coaching with the Juvenile Club. The club will be calling on committee members to drop sandwiches and refreshments down to the pavilion on Saturday morning for participating teams.

A reminder to all users of the portable goalposts, please take the goal posts apart and return them to the corner shed after each use. Otherwise they are a safety hazard and the likelihood is that they will be damaged if left lying around.
 


 Borris-Ileigh GAA News

Senior Hurling:
Our last match in the North Championship is against Kildangan. This match is fixed for Friday June 1st, venue and time to be confirmed. This is a must win match.
Junior C Hurling: We were narrowly defeated by Borrisokane last Friday evening. This was a good performance overall.
Minor Hurling: Draws will be made on Thursday night next.

The Tipp GAA Draw is now gone to 8th June, so anyone interested in joining this fantastic draw can contact T.F.Stapleton or any committee member, so dont miss out on great prizes.

Club merchandise is available every Saturday in the Pavillion between 11am–1pm or contact 087 9439531.

The club extends its deepest sympathies to the family and relatives of Dr Joan Power-Kenny who passed away recently. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis.
 


 
Our under 16’s had their second championship game of the season in Ballina against Ballina onThursday the17th May. They got off to a great start, with everyone playing to the best of their ability. Unfortunatelythe match was abandoned through no fault of the Borrisoleigh or Ballina players. It is a very regrettable situation with the girls from both teams upset. The scorers for Borrisoleigh were Emer Ryan 1-0 and Aoife Delargy 1-0. The Club wishes a speedy recovery to Sarah Kinane who was injured during the game.There will be no more championship games for under 16 until the junior cert exams are finished.
Our Junior team played Thurles at home in the park on Friday 18th under lights in drizzly rain. Borrisoleigh opened the scoring with a point from a free. It was a hard game with slippy conditions under foot. The ladies fought hard throughout the game and finished the scoring with a goal from a free. The final score was Borrisoleigh 1-9 Thurles 2-7(0-3 from frees). The scorers for Borrisoleigh were Nicole Walsh 1-6 (1-5 from frees) Noirin Stapleton 0-1, Joanne Cowan 0-1 and Myra Dooley 0-1. The club wishes a speedy recovery to Sarah Cowan who had trip to accident & emergency during the game also Grace O’Mahony and Noirin Stapleton who went off injured.Training Friday evening at 6.30 pm for 45 minutes. Also a challenge match on Saturday at 4 pm in Urlingford, meeting in the park at 2.25 pm.
Under 14 and 16 training in the park on Saturday at 12.
Under 12 training parents/guardians will be texted.
Under 10 training at 6 pm in the park on Thursday evening.
The under 6 and 8training continues on Tuesday evening at 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm, in the Park. Could all girls bring their helmets, hurleys and shin guards.
